Another weekend to relax and party. What else could any human wish for? A birthday celebration! So how many of you have their birthdays coming up next week? Don't forget to invite me, guys.
Well, now getting back to the subject I was dealing with yesterday- The essential things to be remembered before throwing a birthday party. I have already posted the top 5 but the ones I am about to discuss are points which cannot be ignored either, else your party will end up being a desperate flop.
Party Food:
The birthday cake needs primary attention here. A grand cake will catch everyone's eye. Plan the menu
according to the theme. Keep in mind the tastes of your guests and family members as well. Arrange finger licking snacks to keep the guests munching and crunching in delight. If there are children invited, then make sure the menu includes some delectable items exclusively for them. Cook or order much in advance. Keep sauces or other dripping foodstuffs away from your rugs and carpets to avoid stains.
Liquor - Consider making two punch bowls; one with booze and one without. Remember, you are responsible for the safety of your guests so do not encourage excessive drinking.
Party Fun:
Music - A party without music is too dull to bear. Keep track of the latest hits, burn them on your cd and play the collection. However, do keep in mind, what your guests prefer to listen. Have a variety of music available.
Games (Optional) - Organize games according to the age of your guests. Don t come up with any risky games, because once people get involved and excited, they just might lose control.
You can arrange for a opening the gifts session also. The birthday girl or boy will love that and everybody can be part of the fun.
Party Parking:
Make provisions for parking beforehand. Inform or ask your neighbors if they will allow your guests to park in their allotted space. Plan early to avoid confusion later.
Thank You -- "Thank you for the gift... for coming to my party". A thank you note is part of party etiquette. Children actually enjoy writing thank you cards when they have fun note cards or when they're producing thank yous on the computer and printing on decorative paper.
Return gifts especially for kids are a traditional but unarguable way of saying thank you and making the guests feel special.
The Law
Even the quietest of parties can end up receiving a visit from the police. Be courteous. They may have been sent to your party by an irate neighbor. Stay calm and respond politely to reasonable requests ("keep the noise down, move vehicles that may be blocking the roadway, etc.")
In the end, enjoy and let others have the time of their lives. Don't lose focus and never get tensed.
