Planning a surprise birthday party or coming up with a proper birthday party theme for your loved one is exciting but at the same time a little taxing because of the uncertainty of whether the birthday boy or girl will like the arrangements, of the timing of the invitees, the food and last but not the least, if the whole endeavor will bear fruits of pleasure or just end up being a mood buster. But if certain important aspects are kept in mind, your party arrangements can be a sure fire hit!
A definite one to start with will be the -
Party Budget:
Remember to include into your estimate all food, including cake, ice cream, snacks, as well as utensils and paper goods, decorations, invitations, thank you cards, entertainment and party favors.
Party Location:
If you decide on an outdoor party remember to have a back-up plan in case of bad weather. In case you wish to celebrate at home, make sure the space will fit the guests comfortably and whether you are ready to do the cleaning up later.
Party décor:
This can be as simple as balloons or crepe paper hung in the trees to elaborate underwater scenes with fish and netting strung about the house. Of course if you are having a theme, then decorations should compliment the same.
Party Lighting:
Creative lighting will contribute much to the atmosphere. Try replacing some bulbs with colored lamps or low wattage bulbs. Strobe lights and black lamps can add to the fun.
Party Invitations:
Written invites are a great idea. Try to make them fun and different. Be specific about the timings. Let them know the dress code. If you are anticipating a semi-formal gathering let them know.
How many and whom to invite.
For instance : Invite fewer guests for younger children, 4 to 6 children for ages 1 to 3, 10 to 12 children for ages 4 to 12. Teenage parties can get out of hand so you may consider a smaller number of guests. If it is a large party, be sure you have plenty of space for the guests. Children can become easily overwhelmed in crowds. If the party includes activities such as swimming or skating be sure the children invited are able to participate.
