(Cannon Falls, MN – December 21, 2009) – Midwest-CBK, leading designer and manufacturer renowned for its design, style and sparkle in home décor, gifts, holiday and candles, is proud to announce their ornaments and garlands were recently selected to decorate the Blair House, President Obama’s guest house for foreign heads of state and dignitaries visiting the president, in Washington, D.C. Colette Scanlon Ortiz, the design editor of This Old House magazine, selected more than 20 ornaments, garlands, candleholders and candles to decorate the presidential guest house, located just a few doors down from The White House on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Midwest-CBK ornaments, including the Knitted Sweater, Stocking and Mitten Ornaments; Green Glass Ball Ornaments; and Snowflake Ball Ornaments are prominently shown in photos of the decorated Blair House.
The United States Department of State, which manages the use of Blair House, teamed up with the Magazine Publishers of America to decorate the venue. The editors of This Old House magazine decorated the Lincoln Room and Truman Study, and selected Midwest-CBK holiday décor to recreate the style of Christmas 1951 during President Truman’s time in office. The Blair House held a reception hosted by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to honor families with spouses serving in the military overseas. Prominent editors also attended the event, including This Old House’s Colette Ortiz, Martha Stewart, and editors from Better Homes & Gardens, Traditional Home, Natural Home and Mother Earth News.
