Wildcat Territory showed new top-of-bed designs at this month's High Point furniture market. The "vast majority" of its products are made in the USA, the company says.
According to a company press release: “We are seeing a growing interest and awareness among consumers now in where the products they buy are made,” says Nancy Reib, Wildcat Territory president. “For companies like ours, this is a very positive trend. Wildcat Territory has been committed to manufacturing in America since launching our company some 15 years ago, and it’s one of the core values that I believe has set us apart in the marketplace.”
While Reib admits that it’s nearly impossible to create textiles from start to finish with 100 percent American-made materials today, she makes a point of working with domestic mills to develop exclusive fabrics and color-ways whenever possible. This Market, Tristan, a fabric woven in a pattern developed by Wildcat Territory in a pale silvery gray and cream, is a prime example of this approach.
Wildcat Territory also showed 40 new, high-quality rug designs that coordinate with its bedding collection, produced in partnership with Delos.
Bedding, pillows from the High Point Furniture Market
Playing off the travel theme, Eastern Accents has introduced several pillows in its Studio 773 line. Bon Voyage and Destination are two new collections featuring beautiful map fabrics and block-printed burlap. Jet Setter is a pillow in the shape of a suitcase.
The six new Niche Bedding & Living collections and a pillow program are inspired by fashion trends; the designers paired yellow and gray earth tones and metallic to create transitional bedding.
De Medici Fine Linens will display its new jacquard called Lunetta. Available in the subtle pearl, biscotti, and truffle tones, this introduction is a 560 thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton sateen. Pairing perfectly with Lunetta is the Deluca collection, which includes three new solid sateen colors.
Well-designed and stylish housewares from Mexico
At the Housewares show in Chicago this month, Sogbo will present 25 new products in what it calls "A Revolution of Home Products.” The Mexico-based source offers housewares, furniture, textiles, barware, kitchen accessories and furniture. Catalogs are available on the company's website.

Colorful aprons, kitchen towels, pot holders
Peking Handicraft Inc. (PHI) introduced a new line of kitchen textiles by licensee Ellen Crimi Trent. Trent's designs for Peking Handicraft are done in five colorful designs. All the styles boast a whimsical look, using bright, bold colors and a fanciful duck adorned in a chef's hat. The classic statements "Sugar and Spice," "Kiss the Cook," "Bon Appetit," "What's Cookin'?" and "Never Trust a Skinny Cook," enhance the look of all aprons and kitchen towels found in each style.

Five companies were presented with Home Textiles Market Week Best New Product Awards, with Viceroy Collections receiving the “Best of Market” award for Kajaal Home Couture. The winners and finalists exhibited in the "At Home featuring Home Textiles" section of the New York International Gift Fair, which concluded last week.

The Bloggers' Choice Awards are presented semi-annually to exhibitors in Accent on Design, one of 10 divisions of the New York International Gift Fair. Five companies participating in Home Textiles Market Week in New York were presented with Best New Product awards last week. Designers Guild received the “Best of Market” award for its Orangerie Cushion. All of the winners exhibited in the At Home division of the New York International Gift Fair.

Designers Guild (New York), for its Orangerie Cushion, designed by Tricia Guild. Manufactured in the United Kingdom, the Orangerie design features hand painted florals on a fresh white base—which are digitally reproduced and printed onto the cushion’s cotton percale front fabric. The cushion’s trimming and solid silk back provide some extra contrast to its patterned front.

Bōdmer Blankets (Carlton, Ore.) for its Jaspé Blanket, designed and hand woven by Craig Bōdmer. Made of 100% natural baby alpaca yarn and bound with 100% hand-woven silk, the blanket provides both beauty and comfort. Textile Technology Center offers summer class, July 27
Interested in learning more about textiles? Consider a summer class at the Textile Technology Center, a full-scale “mini-mill,” located in Belmont, NC (approximately 10 minutes from the Charlotte Airport on the Gaston College Campus).
A textile product development facility where seminar attendees can learn about textile processing and observe fiber being processed through yarn, fabric and performance testing, the Textiles 101 class was developed for industry professionals (sales, marketing, purchasing, manufacturing, IT), architects and interior designers, apparel and fashion merchandising personnel, as well as for educational enrichment (college students, teachers and staff development). Classes are routinely scheduled with open enrollment, but the Center will also conduct classes specifically for a client or business upon request.
Seminars are four hours in length and are comprised of a combination of classroom instruction, lab exercises and a tour of the facility to see the products in process. Topics include fiber analysis, yarn spinning, weaving, knitting and non-woven fundamentals; fabric types and constructions; dyeing, finishing and printing; fabric testing, analysis and quality control; textile trends, and product development.
The next class is set for July 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the seminar fee is $95.00 per person. To enroll, phone (704) 825-3737 ext. 254 or email Anderson.john@gaston.edu.

The Legacy Groups introduces “The Bath Collection,” its collection of extra-long shower curtains from its linen division, Legacy Linen Group, LLC.The curtains extend past the top of the bath tub to the floor, allowing for a more finished look.
The Bath Collection includes 22 designs. The 90-inch-long curtains are produced in the USA from high-end fabrics and trims available in an array of solids, damasks, stripes, animal prints, and traditional French toile patterns. Designer touches include an 8-inch bullion trim along the header of the Lion Eyes pattern (representing a lion’s mane) and attached valances and trims for the French toile patterns.
