Visiting Teaching Appointment Anyone?

Just wondering if you've scheduled your appointments this month yet... Me?  Nope!  I got a new partner and new ladies and I just haven't gotten into the swing of things yet.  But I will!!  And I will be bringing each one of them one of these cute little gifts...

The message from the Ensign is titled, "The Purpose of Relief Society."  

We have included the full message printed on a pastel yellow cardstock (folded inside)... along with a yummy Easter chocolate treat.  

The tag simply says, "Relief Society" and then on the edges, it reads, "eggstra ordinary"  repeated all around.  Because it is, right!?  There are so many aspects about the Relief Society as an organization that make it special.  

The sheer polka dot bags vary in color as well as the treats... and you can't go wrong with the treats that are included!  Cadbury Mini Eggs, Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs, or Snickers Eggs.

March Visiting Teaching Gift

February Visiting Teaching Gift

Have I mentioned before how much we love Valentine's Day here at the store?  It's true.  This little gift just gets me excited to go out & GIVE!  

This heart shaped pouch is filled with the entire RS message from the February Ensign, a Russell Stover chocolate heart (flavor will vary), and a little note that says, "From my Heart to Yours!"  I love the fancy little edge & the option to hang it on a doorknob if you please!

January 2011 Visiting Teaching Gift

VT January 2011 - The History & Heritage of the Relief Society

Our Visiting Teaching Gift this month looks like something that might have been shared between sisters in Old Nauvoo.

The message encourages us to "look into the past to know how to face the future."  This thought is printed on vellum, which covers a window in the brown paper sack. As you lift the vellum, you will see a picture of a group of sisters meeting with Joseph Smith as they organized the Relief Society on March 17, 1842.

 

As we were pondering what kind of treat to include this month, we wondered what would sisters share with each other back in the day? We had lots of ideas come to mind, but nothing we could package up and share with you! Until we came across a cornbread muffin mix.  Perfect! Something to whip up fast (a little easier than it used to be), be filling and warm during these cold winter days.

December 2010 Visiting Teaching Message

The message from the Ensign is entitled, "Our Responsibility to Participate in Temple & Family History Work."  

We have added to the top of the message, "Share the Joy of Salvation this Season - the Greatest Gift of All"

A vintage paper cone is filled with a touch of red excelsior,  the complete message from the Ensign, a Utah truffle Chocolate Bar, and an old fashioned picture of the Salt Lake Temple (with the scripture "and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers" D&C 2:2).  .  The cone is closed with a beautiful ribbon and a hand cut tag that reads, "Share the Joy."

The beautiful paper and temple picture were designed exclusively for Pioneer Party - making this month's gift quite a treasure...We think it turned out beautiful!  

We hope you can take this gift and as you share your testimony & thoughts with your sisters, also wish them a very Merry Christmas.  We truly hope that this gift will inspire many to participate in temple & family history work.

I'm Thankful...

the November Visiting Teaching Gifts are DONE!

Each month, it is a huge undertaking to create the perfect gift.  Let me give you an insiders view:

#1  Wait for the official message to come out from the Church Headquarters.

#2  Read and ponder what would be creative, cute, catchy and something that sisters will want to give others!

#3  Come up with 2 or 3 ideas to toss around... usually the Queen of VT (aka the owner's wife) will wake up in the middle of the night with an idea.  Inspiration, maybe?

#4  Decide on the idea.  Now onto finding the perfect paper, packaging, ribbon and treat.

#5  Find a darling scrapbook paper that fits with the message, our idea, and the season.  Call to order it and it is has been retired.  Or there is not enough stock available.  

#6  Search for another "perfect" paper.  Adjust our idea to fit a different look.

#7  Order the paper.  

#8  Have the design drawn up by the Queen of VT, and hand it off to a designer.

#9  Go back and forth with designer at least 10 times until it is just right.

#10  Send it to the printers with specific instructions and a bribe to print ASAP!

#11  Find the perfect treat.  Has to go with the season, match the message or the paper, and we must be able to order enough of it from our vendors.  Also has to be the right price.

#12  The treat part sometimes holds us up!

#13  Order ribbon - and have it shipped faster than normal.  We are on a time crunch, you know!

#14  Call printer, is it done yet?

#15  Pick up from printer... sometimes take somewhere else to get cut.  Depends on the month.

#16  This month, 650 sheets were cut wrong.  Cannot use them.  Cannot order more - the company is all out.  Aaagghh!

#17  Move on!  

#18  Buy a corner rounder.  Each corner has to be rounded on all 4 sides of message.

#19  Design and print tags.  Each tag needs to be individually punched and inked.

#20  Start the assembling of our wonderful VT gifts!  Staple the candybar, punch the holes, cut the ribbon, tie together, add tag, add Pioneer Party sticker... whoo!  One done and a whole lot more to go!

I actually didn't go into as much detail as I could have... it is a huge process.  One that goes all month long.  We make them daily all throughout the month and have been known to order more supplies the last week of the month to make sure we don't run out!  

We ship out anywhere from 100-200 a month all over the United States.

Monson's talk entitled, "The Divine Gift of Gratitude."  Fitting with the month of November and Thanksgiving.  There were so many great quotes!  We loved how it turned out and hope that you and your sisters will enjoy it as well.  Especially the rounded corners, inked edges, and the love that goes into each and every one!!

September Visiting Teaching Gift

Our September message brings a breath of fresh fall air with it!  A darling red gingham lunch sack is filled with the message (of course), a recipe for Autumn Apple Crisp (the boss' family favorite - and easy too!), two nutritious & delicious fruit leathers - all wrapped together with an apple wrap and a delightful sticker.

The message is officially entitled, "Our Responsibility to Nurture the Rising Generation."  Since nourishing is a part of nurturing - we wanted to remind sisters to feed the rising generation spiritually.  Kids are always hungry, right?  My little 4 year old would eat non-stop if I let him!  So just as they are always physically hungry - we need to remember that they are also always craving spiritual food.  They would eat it right up if we continually fed it to them!

So, "Have all the ingredients ready to Nurture & Nourish the Rising Generation" is the title of our gift!  And don't forget to "Feed them Spiritually!"

August 2010 VT & HT Messages

Both the Visiting Teaching & the Home Teaching Messages this month are on temples.  We got our creative experts together and decided that we wanted to do something a little bit nicer for both messages this month... so here they are:

Visiting Teaching Message:
All wrapped up inside this beautiful floral print paper is the VT message along with a book mark that reads: "Always Temple Worthy" and a pretty little charm of the Salt Lake Temple.  A nice keepsake your sisters are sure to love!  {How easy would it be to add this charm to a necklace or a bracelet?}

  

 

Home Teaching Message:

For the HT message, we went along with the same keepsake thought and created a postcard magnet of the Salt Lake Temple.  The postcard magnet and message are all wrapped up in cellophane and tied off with a lavender bow and a gift tag.

July Visiting Teaching Gift:

This month's message is about Strengthening the Home & Family... Perfect message for this time of year when kids being out of school might be driving you a little {crazy}!

On a more serious note... these little vintage looking goodies are a perfect way to show your own patriotism while sharing a great message. The full message is rolled up and peeping out of the tote, which is filled with a delicious mix of All-American salt water taffy.

June Visiting Teaching Gift -

Let the "SON" shine in...

This month's gift is fun & bright!  The topic is "renewing your covenants through the sacrament."  With it being June, we wanted to liken the warmth of the sun to thewarmth that the Son can bring us if we renew our covenants weekly.  The title on our gift says, "Let the Son Shine In...by Renewing Your Covenants Through the Sacrament."
