Birthday Gifts For Aquarius (January 20 – February 18 )

Aquarians have a refined taste in love. Friendly and humanitarian, independent, creative and intellectual, they tend to become unemotional and unpredictable at times. But nevertheless, their attractive personality, smiling countenance, perseverance and ability to smoothly interact with people catches everyone's attention. They're intellectual but not snotty, strong-willed without being pushy, and able to balance their rebellious streak with a passion for saving the world.

To choose a birthday gift for Aquarius is a complete pleasure, especially if you have a good sense of humor. The more original and unexpected your gift is, the more he will be pleased. Even if your gift is commonplace, like a new teapot, present it with a wise air or compose a little poem and it will be greatly appreciated.

You can present your Aquarius man with articles made of glass, unusual figurines, or even the latest trendy gadgets like ipods and mobile phones or digicams.

Space shooters, mechanical robots, shower radios, sports watches, slick cameras, bubble lights, mini table tennis, desk darts, ice crushers, puzzles and brain teaser games; trendy cuff links or elegant suits and shirts, sweat shirts are other cool gifts they would love to possess.

You can even opt for zodiac watches, personalized zodiac mugs and T-shirts with witty captions.

Just keep in mind, it is not the packing or wrapping that matters more to an Aquarius man, instead the time and effort spent on selecting a unique and innovative gift is what touches him more.

As for women, there are plenty of options.

They love jewelery. Their birthstone being amethyst, you have a wide variety of beautiful pendants, rings and earrings to chose from. A large amethyst and diamond surrounded ring, a silver brooch laid with an amethyst, a heart shaped pendant are just a few examples. Besides these, trendy hand bags, belts, shoes especially stylish ones, cosmetics and perfumes are excellent gift ideas. They love being pampered, so bath and spa products are an option.

Trendy off the shoulder tops and leather jackets are also attractive gifts for these naughty and flirtatious Aquarians. In addition, greeting cards with witty notes that exude warmth and merriment is another gift they will cherish forever.

Birthday Party Ideas For Kids (Boys)

Kids love birthday parties, big creamy chocolate cakes, pastries, ice creams, balloons, streamers, cookies and loads of party favors. But what they love most is to dress up and act like power rangers, superman, spider man and other super heroes, prance about and have the time of their lives. Theme birthday parties are much in vogue these days, and when its a matter of celebrating your little one's birthday, there can be no compromises, right?

Check out some fun party ideas below?

Plan a family field trip. If your child has a favorite place like the zoo or skating rink, plan a trip for their birthday. If you really want to go all out, plan a trip to a nearby theme park. You could even invite one of your child's friends to tag along.

Pirate Party - Send the kids a note inviting them to participate in a treasure hunt with a map and loads of clues that lead straight to your house, the pirates den where the treasure is kept.
Decorations- The color scheme for this party will be red and black. Use these colors for balloons, streamers and tablecloth. Make a poster that says "AHOY - WELCOME ABOARD!". Place pirate flags around the party area. Cover your table with a black table cloth and scatter gold chocolate (or plastic) coins and plastic jewels. Add an inflatable shark and/or crocodile pool float toy. Hang some rope lines and rigging and place a few wood whiskey barrels in the party area.
Give the kids a pirate patch, draw a beard with eye liner and tie a bandana around their heads or give them a pirate hat.
Games- Walk the Plank
Use a 2x4 boa
rd to make the plank. The children take turns walking across the board. When they get to the end they all get a chocolate coin or a small prize. Repeat as many times as you wish.
Treasure Toss
Decorate a cardboard box to look like a wooden chest, or use a real chest if you have one. Leave the top off or open. Make or purchase five bean bags. This is a simple bean bag toss game where the children will take turns tossing the bean bags into the box from a pre-determined location.
Food
Bake a cake. Frost part of the cake blue for the sea. Sand is frosted light brown with toasted coconut on top. Stand "Play-Mobil" or Fisher- Price Pirate figures on top. Fill ice trays with red fruit punch. Serve the red ruby ice in clear plastic cups with a lemon lime soda.

Race Car Party
Invitations- First, draw a 5-inch circle on thin cardboard to use as a template. Cut straight across the top and bottom to create a tire shape 4 1/4 inches tall. Next, fold an 8 1/2- by 11-inch sheet of black construction paper so that the longer edges match up. Place the template atop the paper so that the top lines up with the fold. Trace around the sides and bottom, then cut along the lines (you should get 2 invitations from each sheet of paper). Cut out an oval hubcap (2 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches tall) from yellow paper and glue it onto the tire slightly left of center. In marker, print "Race on Over!" on the hubcap. Use a white crayon or marker to add zigzag tire treads and to print the party specifics inside.
Decorations- Use crayons or markers to transform a plain paper tablecloth into a racetrack for Matchbox cars. For decorations, shape fluorescent orange poster board into road cones and hot-glue each to a square cardboard base. You also can use them to mark a course for the Hot Rod Relay.
Steer arriving guests into your driveway with a checkered victory flag attached to your mailbox or lamppost. Designing flashy personalized license plates is a great activity for slowing down the party pace after a round of spirited racing.

Hot Rod Relay
What you need:
Cardboard boxes, Paint, Tape, Aluminum foil

Make a car for each team. Trim off the top and bottom flaps of a cardboard box and cut a handle hole in each door panel. Paint the cars, adding your child's favorite racing numbers. Then tape on yellow paper headlights and front grills fashioned from 3/4-inch-wide strips of aluminum foil. At race time, the first kid from each team dons a helmet and goggles and steps into his team's car. On cue, the drivers race around a designated landmark, such as a picnic table, tree, or large rock, and back to the start, where they quickly turn their gear over to the next person. The race continues in this manner until all the members of one team finish the course and win the game.

Fast Food: Cut pumpernickel and white bread sandwiches into squares, then arrange them on a platter to resemble a checkered flag. Serve with frosty glasses of your child's favorite soft drink and, for the grand finale, and a racetrack cake.

Birthday Party Ideas For Kids (Girls)

My niece is turning 7 this February and my sister and I are planning to throw a gala birthday party for her. The occasion is doubly special as this is the first birthday she is celebrating at my place. So I spent hours searching the net and innovating some cool party themes for the little one. Here are some of the ideas.

Happy Feet Birthday Party

Invitations:
Make your own with card stock paper. Make basic snowflakes or more advanced penguins and write on them- "Bring your dancin' feet to celebrate ______'s birthday!"

Decorations:
Plenty of white, blue and silver streamers, fluffy white snow, paper snowflakes and white confetti make a perfect Happy Feet atmosphere. Add pictures of penguins on the walls wherever you can. Give each child a black and white penguin cap or a Tuxedo tee-shirt. The shirts can be fashioned with easy-sew, black felt vests worn over plain white tee-shirts. Serve Tuxedo cookies and snow-cones, or prepare white frosted cup cakes. Top with coconut, or a bit of white sugar to add sparkle.
Games:
  • Penguin Egg Race
Use a plastic egg and a special penguin walk, to pass the egg from one player to another. Divide the children evenly into teams. Provide one plastic egg to each team. The players will place the plastic egg
at their feet and "scoot" along to a designated spot and then return the egg to the next player.
  • Snowball Race
You'll need:
Styrofoam balls or balls of white yarn, spoons and mittens for each team.

Play this game as you would any relay race. Divide into teams. Each player takes turns putting on mittens and balancing a "snowball" on a spoon while racing to the other side of the room. Drop the snowball into a bucket, return to the team, pass the mittens and go to the back of the line. First team to complete the race wins!

Around The World Theme Party

Hang maps and atlas pages, and make signs with country names and basic facts on them. Flags make excellent wall coverings as well as festive pendant decorations. Suspend pinatas (from Mexico,) stamped lanterns (from Morocco,) and paper globes (from Japan.) Set your table the way the French do (fork on the left, knife on the right, spoon facing down and horizontal above the plate,) use chopsticks (Asia) or your hands (India, Africa.)
Make sure you inform the kids or their parents to choose a particular country and wear costumes keeping that in mind. You can also arrange for some costumes yourself to save others from any expense.

Party Favors
: Fill your party favor bag ( You can use baskets, woven textiles or even Benito boxes!) with gourmet international goodies: candy from Japan and France, spicy nuts and legumes from Mexico and China. Miniature flags and globes would be perfect, as would pocket atlases, noisemakers and balloons.

Games: Have yours guests pretend they come from imaginary countries and ask them to design their own flags! Supply pens, colored pencils or paints in blue, red, black, yellow and green, and large sheets of white butcher paper. When the flags are finished, you can either fly them outside, or save them as party favors.

Food
: Just create an amalgamation of the best and the most popular food items the globe over and see how thrilled the kids are.

A Backyard Stargazing Sleepover P
arty

Ask everyone to arrive at 6:30 p.m. in time for a little fun and then dinner. All the children (and any should bring their own sleeping bags. Set up enough tents in your yard to accommodate all.
If you will be cooking outside on a grill, make sure it's located a safe distance from the tents.
You can purchase a star map borrow, or rent a telescope.

Moon Walk Game
- Cut out large, crater-shaped circles from brown paper bags, and number them sequentially. Lay out an obstacle course with these shapes, so that they are fairly close together, but not touching, making sure sequential numbers are contiguous. The object of the game is to have the children take turns moonwalking (jumping) over the craters in numerical order without touching them. Explain the concept of gravity, and how astronauts were able to walk on the moon.
Rocket Relay Races - Divide the children into teams and supply each team with a flashlight. Create or purchase a cutout of a quarter moon, and cover with reflective tape. Each team is a rocket and each astronaut on the rocket must race to the moon with the flashlight and back, handing the flashlight to the next astronaut on the rocket.

Decorations:
Cover the food table with a black cloth and silver star confetti. Make a simple solar system model to use as a centerpiece. Decorate the table with rocket ship models. Make large cutout stars and cover with foil. Hang off all available trees. Add moons and suns if you wish.

Food:
You must serve Tang, the drink of the astronauts. Serve a plate of moon rocks (Swiss cheese cubes) and asteroids. Also, serve Rocket dogs by inserting a narrow craft stick into cooked hot dogs, and pushing the stick into a Styrofoam sheet that has been covered with foil. Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cut out shapes with star, moon and sun cookie cutters. Make sugar cookies with star, moon and sun cookie cutters.

Favors:
If this is a birthday party and you want to send the children home with favors, you might include a copy of the star map, flashlights or books on space.

50th Birthday Party Ideas

Age is strictly a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. -- Jack Benny

Planning to throw a surprise birthday party for someone just turning 50? I had a 50s theme for my mom's birthday. I encouraged guests to come dressed in 50s style. There was a fashion show as well. Mom was glowing with joy while serenading down the aisle dressed in her 50s outfits. It turned out to be beautiful journey into the past for her and all her friends. The decor consisted of bright colors and polka dots. Old melodies kept everyone busy on the dance floor. Mom simply adored it.

To make your loved one's 50th birthday party equally special, here are a few interesting party ideas:

  • The party theme can be 'bidding youth goodbye'. The decor must include black and white, mock tombstones can be placed, with ‘adieus to the bygone days’ inscribed on them. Don't forget to burst crackers and balloons in the end welcoming the new era of happiness.

  • Memory Lane party
Collect photographs and small keepsakes of all the friends, well wishers and relatives and place them all over the house. Get that old car of his painted all over again with all the modifications done and go on a ride together. You can even invite his old friends belonging to his school days or college days and organize a poker night.

  • While sending out invitations, ask your guests to fill in this questionnaire:

  1. My favorite thing about Sam (use guest of honors name) is ______.

  2. He is best at _______.

  3. The happiest I ever saw him was when he________.

  4. The dumbest thing I ever saw him do was________.

  5. My most memorable moment with him was ________.

You may want to have them put these answers on video, have a slide show or have the party guests read these stories out loud.

  • Have an ice cream party for the baby boomers. Ask everyone to bring their favorite topping & ideas to build sundaes, banana splits, etc. Surprise the birthday boy/girl with the biggest, craziest, very creative, bowl of ice cream. Those watching their sugar & fat intake can bring peanuts & fruit, yogurt etc.

  • If there is a favorite restaurant he/she likes to visit, try reserving all or part of it for the birthday. Check with the management and see what they’ll allow you to do to make the night special- bring in a live band, put up decorations, make speeches, run a picture slide show of memories and years gone by.

  • Plan a trip to the Bahamas. Destination parties are very popular right now, and travel companies compete to find the best, cheapest, and most exciting destination package for vacationing groups. They might even be able to charter you a fishing boat, arrange for your favorite song to be played by a live orchestra at the birthday dinner, deliver a convoy of rented motorcycles to your hotel door. Phew!

  • Wish fulfillment- Think of an activity your Mom has always dreamt of doing and offer to do it with her. If she’s always wanted to learn to paint or sing or dance, sign up for a class with her.

  3. Test a discreet area to make sure the fabric reacts well to the bleach. Use a water-soluble dressmaker's pencil to mark a grid on the fabric; where the lines intersect, create a 2-inch square, as pictured.

  4. With the bleach pen, draw a freehand flower within each square and add dotted lines between flowers. (Or download the template here.)
  5. Let the bleach set until the pattern has faded to the desired shade, about 20 minutes.

18th Birthday Party Ideas

Just a few weeks remaining before your teen turns 18 and heads towards college. They are just about to leave the comfort of home, enter a new world and face loads of responsibilities. Its scary but exciting as well. Its time for you to start making plans to celebrate their birthday in a style they will remember and cherish forever.

For an all guys’ party, a local sports court would make a great party place. If all your guests are crazy about sports, organize a match with prizes at the end.

Create a children’s birthday party for these soon to be adults. Rent a bubble machine, a fog machine and a bouncer for them. Organize a few contests say with paddle balls, or a bubble gum blowing contest. You can even arrange for sack races or musical chairs. Blow up balloons, tie them to the their ankles and ask them to burst each other's without using their hands. Stack your table with lots of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cheese strings and so on.

If it is an all girls’ party, with only the friends of the birthday girl, a salon party would be ideal! Take the girls for a beauty massage, spa and make over session before they enter college.

Set up an Italian theme- Transform your patio into an Italian cafe. Rent four round tables and white bistro style wrought iron chairs, cover the tables with red and white checkered table cloths andlay white square linen on top. Place a small crystal bud vase with a red rose and votive candle on the tables. You can also arrange for some statues and columns to place around the edge of the patio. Hire a violin player to plat some beautiful music. Put on some cool Italian songs later for all to dance till they drop.

Menu: Homemade spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli with red sauce, shells stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach and garlic bread sticks with a side of red sauce for dipping, red wine for the adults, grape juice or soda for the youngsters and chocolate canoli for desert.

If your teen's favorite rock star is in town, get the tickets and send your child there with friends to party all night.

Arrange a huge stage in your backyard. Decorate the place with balloons, streamers and other party accessories. Tell the guests to come dressed in their wildest best costumes. Make them stand up on the stage, explain why they chose that particular costume and do a jig on their favorite number. Encourage them to speak about their experience interacting with your child and see the blushing smile and joy bloom on your 18 year olds face.

Consider how you can help your own teenager appreciate the past but look forward to the future with great anticipation.
